Walkthrough: Undead Settlement

  • After the landing, go left for a Large Soul of a Deserted Corpse.
  • Downstairs, two dogs behind an overturned cart drop Alluring Skull x2.
  • Below the Foot of the High Wall bonfire, Yoel of Londor sits among pilgrims. Accept his service and talk to him at Firelink Shrine for the Beckon gesture.
  • Let Yoel Draw Out True Strength for a free level and a Dark Sigil. He offers it again at Hollowing 2, 6, 12 and 15. Get all five before the Abyss Watchers or he dies and the Usurpation path closes.
  • Once all five are done, reload Firelink: Yoel dies and Yuria of Londor takes his place. Talk to her for the Dignified Bow gesture and buy the Londor Braille Divine Tome.
  • Near Yoel, Homeward Bone x2 sit at the far left end of the bridge.
  • From the Undead Settlement bonfire enter the house and cut down a glowing hanging body for the Small Leather Shield.
  • Downstairs take Charcoal Pine Bundle x2; cut the body down on the balcony and go round the corner for Repair Powder x2.
  • One floor lower is another Charcoal Pine Bundle x2.
  • Outside, loot Loretta's Bone from the body you cut down.
  • An Estus Shard lies by the burning tree with kneeling hollows.
  • Beyond the tree, grab an Ember, shoot down a hanging body for Kukri x9 and take a Soul of an Unknown Traveler by the closed gate.
  • Go right of the house for a Titanite Shard.
  • Through the big archway and door, take Charcoal Pine Resin x2 and cut down the bodies over the stairs for a Large Soul of a Deserted Corpse.
  • Drop through the hole in the floor to a hidden room holding the Warrior of Sunlight covenant and a pot of Estus Soup.
  • Follow the hallway to the main street, go right and break the crates in the first gap for a Soul of an Unknown Traveler.
  • Further down the street a door bursts open; the house holds the Whip.
  • Past the wooden wheel on the right, go round the corner for a Titanite Shard.
  • Climb the balcony with an Evangelist for another Titanite Shard.
  • Drop onto the roof and jump to the wooden platform on the left for Rusted Coin x2.
  • Drop down and kill the Crystal Lizard for a Sharp Gem, then light the Dilapidated Bridge bonfire below.
  • While embered, Holy Knight Hodrick may invade near this bonfire. Kill him for the Vertebra Shackle.
  • Return to the burning tree, cross the bridge and go right past the crates toward the Thralls. Find a Fading Soul, the Plank Shield behind a house and Firebomb x6 on the left roof.
  • On the other roof grab Homeward Bone x2, drop to the friendly Cage Carrier and cut down the last hanging body for the Flame Stoneplate Ring. If it falls out of reach, carry on.
  • Interact with the Cage Carrier from behind to be carried off, then walk toward the light for the Wargod Wooden Shield.
  • In the jail, talk to Holy Knight Hodrick to join the Mound-makers and get a Homeward Bone; reload to return. Once the Greatwood dies this route closes until Sirris' quest.
  • Back near the bridge, drop off the small ledge, enter the house for a Large Soul of a Deserted Corpse and open its back door.
  • To the right is the Caduceus Round Shield.
  • Cross toward the next house, drop to the right-hand ledge and walk toward the bridge for a Titanite Shard.
  • The other way leads under the house to the Cliff Underside bonfire and a route upward.
  • At the top of the house, talk to Cornyx of the Great Swamp in his cage. At Firelink Shrine talk to him repeatedly for a Pyromancy Flame (if you lack one) and the Welcome gesture.
  • Take the Hand Axe, and the Partizan from a hanging body nearby.
  • Walk down onto the gallows for a Soul of an Unknown Traveler, then out along the unfinished bridge for the Fire Clutch Ring.
  • Through the archway and downstairs, go left round the corner for a Large Soul of a Deserted Corpse; kill the dog by the tree for an Ember.
  • Enter the sewer by the bridge, kill a giant rat for the Bloodbite Ring, take the Caestus and climb up to open a shortcut.
  • Back on the bridge take another Ember, climb toward the right-hand house for a Large Soul of a Deserted Corpse, and go round it for Alluring Skull x3.
  • Near the tower, talk to Eygon of Carim. Irina of Carim is reachable later through the Grave Key route, so skip the risky drop.
  • Inside the tower meet Siegward of Catarina. Take the lift to the basement, kill the Boreal Outrider Knight for the Irithyll Straight Sword, grab an Ember and light the Road of Sacrifices bonfire.
  • NG+ only: the Life Ring+1 is behind Siegward on the balcony ahead.
  • To reach the top, press the lift switch at the main entrance and step off quickly; a second lift rises.
  • At the top, a Soul of a Nameless Soldier sits in a corner.
  • Climb the stairs and give the Giant of the Undead Settlement a token of friendship. He stops shooting you and later helps near White Birch trees.
  • Ride the lift down and roll off onto the wooden platform when you hear Siegward.
  • Go outside and talk to Siegward again.
  • Draw the Fire Demon toward the tower so Siegward jumps in to help.
  • The Fire Demon drops a Fire Gem.
  • Talk to Siegward three times for a Siegbräu, the Toast gesture and the Sleep gesture.
  • Around the town find a Homeward Bone, the Large Club and the Northern Armor Set on a hanging body.
  • Take the Pale Tongue from a hanging body; Leonhard then returns to the shrine and gives you the Lift Chamber Key.
  • Open the room under the Tower on the Wall bonfire, kill the Darkwraith for a Red Eye Orb and tell Leonhard for the Applause gesture.
  • In the house take Red Bug Pellet x2, upstairs Alluring Skull x2, cross into the next house for Human Pine Resin x4 in a chest and go left on the roof for Flynn's Ring.
  • NG++ only: the Covetous Silver Serpent Ring+2 is on a lower rooftop.
  • Drop onto a tower ledge for Homeward Bone x2, then inside the tower for the Mirrah Set (minus the mask) and the Chloranthy Ring.
  • Warp to Dilapidated Bridge and enter the arrow-strewn graveyard. Before the house on the left are the Blue Wooden Shield and the Cleric Set; Mortician's Ashes lie by a tree to the left.
  • NG+ only: the Poisonbite Ring+1 is behind the well.
  • Collect everything around the White Birch, including the Reinforced Club and an Undead Bone Shard on the platform to its right.
  • Inside the house upstairs is the Great Scythe; continue to the stone building and open the doors on the right.
  • Give Loretta's Bone to Greirat to keep the Blue Tearstone Ring. Reload and talk again for the Curl Up gesture, then reload once more and let him go pillaging; he returns after the next boss.
  • Hand the Mortician's Ashes to the Shrine Handmaid and buy the Grave Key. It opens the locked sewer door near the Undead Settlement bonfire.
  • Open that door, climb down and take the Loincloth at Velka's statue.
  • Follow the tunnel for the Red Hilted Halberd and, in the next room, a Soul of an Unknown Traveler.
  • Outside, kill a Crystal Lizard for a Heavy Gem and take two Titanite Shard pickups.
  • In the arched tunnel shoot down a hanging body for a blessed Red and White Shield +1.
  • In the next room climb down for the Saint's Talisman.
  • Climb up and talk to Irina of Carim for the Prayer gesture; accept her service and she moves to the shrine. Speak to Eygon outside afterwards.
  • Keep the Londor Braille Divine Tome for Karla; giving it to Irina and buying its miracles sends her down the dark path.
  • Defeat the Curse-rotted Greatwood for the Soul of the Rotted Greatwood and the Transposing Kiln. Give the kiln to Ludleth of Courland to unlock soul transposition.
  • After the Greatwood, Hawkwood may hand you a Heavy Gem; if not, try after the next boss.
